题目: Ultrafast control of cavity QED beyond the radiative lifetime

摘要:
Cavity quantum electrodynamics (CQED) represents one of the most fascinating systems for the study of quantum physics. Solid-state CQED systems, for example based on semiconductor nanocavities coupled to single quantum dots (QDs), are particularly interesting for their potential scalability and integration. However, the progress in solid-state CQED has so far been hampered by the very limited degree of control, due to the ultrafast picosecond time scales and subwavelength spatial scales, which make the control of the QD-photon interaction in real time a formidable challenge. Recently, we have demonstrated a novel method to control the QD-photon coupling rate and the photon lifetime on picosecond timescales without directly perturbing the emitter's coherent evolution. This opens the way to the real-time control of solid-state CQED and towards novel forms of nano-photonic devices.

Chao-Yuan Jin (金潮渊) is currently with the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, the University of Sheffield, UK, working as an independent academic staff, the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow. His main research activities have been focused on nano-photonic devices for optical signal and quantum information processing, including optical switches, lasers, single-photon sources, and nano-photonic integrated circuits.
