题目: Nonlinear optical studies on surfaces and low dimensional materials

摘要:
The scope of nonlinear optics has been expanding rapidly in recent decades with the development of laser technology. It has not only become an indispensable tool in multiple disciplines such as the surface science, but also found applications and new phenomena in emerging materials of low dimensionalities. In the talk, I will report a few examples of our recent studies on interfaces and two-dimensional materials. Using the sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy, we are able to probe electrochemical interfaces under reactions, which are inaccessible to most conventional surface techniques. By detecting surface vibrational spectra, we were able to obtain surface structural and compositional information in situ, facilitating fundamental understanding of electrochemistry at the molecular level. I will also introduce our recent investigations of 2D systems, which can not only be characterized by nonlinear optical techniques in unique ways, but also open new venues for nonlinear optics.

2001年本科毕业于复旦大学物理系并获学士学位。2001-2008年就读于美国加州大学伯克利分校物理系获博士学位,博士导师沈元壤教授。2008-2011于美国加州大学伯克利分校物理系与劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室从事博士后研究,合作导师王枫与沈元壤教授。2011年加盟复旦物理系。刘韡韬致力于非线性光学技术的发展,与不同科研领域间广泛开展合作,以发掘非线性光学的新应用与新现象,并为相关领域引入新的视角与关键信息。近年来主要学术成果集中在对表面、界面与低维量子材料两大体系的研究:1)在表面、界面体系,将表面混频光谱技术拓展到原先难以探测的电化学界面与氧化物单晶表面,成功获取了这些重要体系在实际应用环境中的原位微观结构与反应机制;2)在低维体系方面,采用多样化的光学实验技术、从多个角度探索了这些材料,展示了该方向的丰富研究前景,包括二次谐波对二维半导体叠层结构以及晶界的原位探测、石墨烯与石墨烯-微纳导波耦合结构中的超快非线性光学现象等。
