题目:Far-field and near-field effects in graphene plasmonics

摘要:
Recently, there have been an increased interest to graphene plasmonics, both theoretical and experimental. The existence of surface plasmons (SPs) in graphene, with their similarities to those supported by metal surfaces, brings to the fore the possibility of using graphene for many of the functionalities sought within the field of plasmonics. For instance, graphene could be used to built terahertz (THz) devices/circuits, and a graphene sheet with a spatially nonuniform conductivity is a promising platform for both THz flatland metamaterials and transformation optics.
We will consider a variety of resonance effects related to excitation of graphene plasmons:the fields radiated by a nanoemitterin the proximity to a graphene sheet, dispersion characteristics of SP modes existing in graphene ribbons in the THz frequency range, resonance effects in periodic graphene structures (arrays of ribbons and anti-dots, corrugation gratings, etc.), scattering of graphene plasmons and Faraday rotation due to magnetoplasmons.
 
简介:
Dr. Alexey Nikitin is a theoretician actively working on electromagnetic problems such asextraordinary transmission, scattering of surface waves, metamaterials, etc.He obtained his PhD in theoretical physics in 2005 in the Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics (Kharkov, Ukraine). Starting from 2006 he had a postdoctroral stay in the University of Zaragoza (Spain) being awarded with two individual grants for talented young scientists: INTAS (sponsored by European Union) and Juan de la Cierva (sponsored by Spanish Ministry of Science).In 2013 he joined nanoGUNE research center (Spain) as a tenure-track Assistant Professor.
(Optional) His scientific record includes 37 peer-review papers including such journals as PRL, Nano letters, ACS Nano, Laser and Photonic Reviews, etc. h=14 (ISI) and h=16 (google scholar).
