题目:The study of Nanophotonic Devices Made From Photonic Crystals

摘要:
I will review the physics of nanodevices made from in photonic heterostructures which are manufactured from photonic crystals. These are a new class of materials.  They can be used to make smaller and faster optical devices. I will discuss the optical properties of these materials such as switching and transparency It is anticipated that the present research can be used to make new types of all-photonic devices such as switches and transistors.

Prof. Mahi R.Singh 简介:
Since 1995 Prof. Mahi R. Singh has been a professor in Department of Physics and Astronomy, The University of Western Ontario, Canada. In 2000-2006 Prof. Singh served as the director of Centre for Chemical Physics, University of Western Ontario. Prof. Singh was a visiting professor in Theoretical Physics, Texas Center for Superconductivity, Houston, USA, and Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford University, U.K. from 1992 to 1994. Prof. Singh has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal papers, edited and written several books and lecture notes, contributed several chapters in books, and given tens of invited and plenary talks in international symposia.
