题目:A Protein Chip Approach to Unrevaling Protein Function
报告人:Dr. Heng Zhu (Co-Director of the HiT Center, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, U.S.A)
摘要:
In the post-genomics era an immediate challenge is to elucidate biological function of encoded elements in a given organism in a high-throughput fashion. To address this challenge, many proteomics tools have been developed, among which the protein chip technology is emerging as a promiment and versatile tool with a wide range of application. In this seminar I will describe recent development in protein chip technology and illustrate its applications with several examples.
Dr. Heng Zhu 简介:
Dr. Heng Zhu received his BS degree at Peking University and in 1999 he earned his PhD degree in the field of genetics at Clemson University, South Carolina. Dr. Zhu obtained his postdoctroal training with Dr. Mike Snyder at Yale University, where he invented the protein chip technology. In 2004, Dr. Zhu joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to continue his research in the filed of proteomics. As an independent PI, Dr. Zhu and colleagues have made significant progresses in further developing the protein chip technology in a wide variety of model systems and demonstrated that this new technology has a great advantage in the investigation of protein post-translational modifications, signaling pathways and networks, pathogen-host interactions, and biomarker idemtification. Dr. Zhu holds primary and secondary faculty positions at the Department of Pharmacology and Oncology Center, respectively, and is heading the proteomics research group at the High-Throughput Biology (HiT) Center at Hopkins. Dr Zhu is also an adjunct Full Professor at Beijing Genomics Institute and member of Faculty1000.
