摘要:
By manipulating atomic coherence between different atomic energy levels, the linear absorption and dispersion, as well as the nonlinearity, in the multi-level atomic media can be controlled. With such increased dispersion, reduced absorption, and greatly enhanced nonlinear coefficients, we have demonstrated many interesting nonlinear and dynamical effects in such electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) systems. In this talk I will present some of our recent works including three-level EIT atoms inside an optical cavity (modified cavity transmission linewidth with linear and nonlinear dispersions, and polariton spectroscopy with Doppler-broadened atoms) and intermixing between four-wave mixing and six-wave mixing processes in multi-level atomic systems.
Professor Min Xiao 简介:
Professor Xiao did his Ph.D. research under Professor Jeff Kimble (now at Cal Tech) and joined the University of Arkansas in 1990. He has published extensively in experimental and theoretical quantum optics, laser physics, nonlinear optics, and atomic physics. His research projects are currently funded by the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research. Presently he is the twenty-First Century Chair in Nanotechnology, Fellow of American Physical Society and Optical Society of America, 2005. he received NSF Young Investigator Award in 1994 and Alumni Distinguished Service Award for Research in 1998. His research works ranging from fundamental quantum optics to applied optics. Include Atomic coherence effects in multi-level atomic systems and Optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures. etc
