题目:Patterning and Shaping Ceramics into Macro- and Micro-meter Scale Ranges

摘要:

Miniaturisation has proven its powerful driving force towards the development and modernization of our society in the last few decades. There is still an increasing interest in the incorporation of active materials into conventional microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) components and devices, in order to expand the functionality and improve the performance.  The ability to fabricate functional materials and components with feature sizes <1mm is a key enabling step, and will help the drive for miniaturization and integration of materials and system, the increase of multi-functionality, and cost effective manufacture. This talk will focus on colloidal powder-based routes for the fabrication of micro-/macro-sized ceramic components and devices. Using colloidal routes, there is a high degree of processing flexibility depending on the ceramic volume fraction and rheology of the powder – binder - fluid system. Candidate processes include printable thick film ink systems, castable ceramic slurries, and viscous, plastically deformable tapes. A range of patterning and/or shaping routes including screen printing, moulding and plastic-forming can be used with these different colloidal systems to produce components with feature sizes in the range 10-100 m.

Dr. Dou Zhang 简介:

自1995年在武汉工业大学(现武汉理工大学)材料学院任教,1999-2000年在韩国科学技术研究院(KAIST)材料系作访问学者,之后前往英国伯明翰大学冶金与材料系攻读博士。2004年后在伯明翰大学材料加工多学科研究中心工作,主要研究方向是铁电与压电陶瓷,涉及纤维、薄膜、厚膜、复合体、相关器件以及陶瓷材料与器件的微系统技术。
