题目:Moving atomic qubits

摘要:
We demonstrated a few years ago the trapping of a single Rb atom in sub-micron optical tweezers. Since then we have been showing that we can turn it into a single photon source, and use two such sources to observe two-photon interference effects. We also turned a single atom into a single quantum bit. We demonstrated recently the transport of this atomic qubit over distances of 10 micrometers in 3 ms. We also demonstrated the transfer of a single atomic qubit from one tweezer  to another, while preserving the coherence of its internal and external degrees of freedom.


Dr. Gaétan Messin简介:
Dr Messin is one of the two permanent researchers in charge of the single atom trapping experiments in the Quantum Optics group led by P. Grangier at Institut d'Optique, France. Their work aims at demonstrating a two qubit quantum gate using single neutral atoms trapped in optical tweezers. He has also succesfully demonstrated single-photon emission of a single trapped atom (Science 2005), quantum interference with two photons emitted by two single trapped atoms (Nature 2006), and ultrafast quantum state control of a single trapped neutral atom (to appear in PRA 2007), opening the way to conditional entanglement of two neutral atoms. His previous research includes quantum key distribution with single polarized photons, ultrabright sources of pairs of entengled photons for long distance teleportation, and single-photon sources.
