题目: Plenty of Rooms for Nano in Bio- and Electronics
报告人:Chang-Ming Li, PhD
(School of Chemic and Biomedical Engineering,Nanyang Technological University)

摘要:
Nanoscience and nanotechnology is the ability to design and control the structure of an object at all length scales from the atom up to macro scale and has become very popular  word describe many types of research and development where the characteristic dimensions are less than about 100 nanometers. Scientists and engineers from different backgrounds have been extensively to explore this area. However, what are the niches? The answer is there are plenty of rooms for nano in bio- and electronics.
The presentation reports the approaches to synthesize, characterization and applications of nanostructured materials and their composites, which can further empower the superior properties and boost broad applications of nanomatrials in bio- and electronics applications such as biosensors, nanoelectronics, and green energies. Private and public research efforts worldwide are developing nanoproducts aimed at new energy materials, nanoelectronics, nanosensors, health care, and advancing medical research.  The star researches and developments are nanoelectronics, nanomedicine, nanobiochips, and nanomachine.  Some of these products have entered the marketplace, more are on the verge of doing so, and others remain more a vision that a reality. The nanosynthesis and nanofabrication in speaker’s team will be briefly presented.

Prof. Chang-Ming Li简历:
Dr. Li Changming is a Professor at the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He currently holds appointments as Head, Division of Bioengineering and Director, Center for Advanced Bionanosystems. He received his MSc and PhD from Wuhan University, in 1983 and 1986, respectively, followed by postdoctoral research at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, from 1988 to 1990. Dr. Li worked as a Senior Scientist to chair R&D in World Precision Instruments, USA for two years, and then worked with Motorola USA for 10 years, where he was the Senior Scientific Manager. He has received a number of prestigious awards such as Motorola Distinguished Innovator Award (Gold Badge), in 1997, and Motorola Master Innovator Award (Platinum Badge), in 1999. His research work has, over the years, been focused on Bionanotechnologies, particularly in chemical/biological Sensors, lab-on-a-chip systems, bio- and organic electronics and green energies (solar and fuel cells). His research has been funded by A*STAR, DSO, EDB, US Army Research, US Air Force Research and Motorola USA. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal papers and holds 64 patents. He is the member of US NSF (National Science Foundation) Review Panel, US Motorola Science Advisory Board Associate, member of the US NIH Multidisciplinary Study Section and Member of Attogenix Scientific Advisory Board, Singapore.
